Our Wedding Day - The Ceremony

Our Wedding Day
Sunday, September 4, 2011

We were married at Fleur De Lis Wedding Chapel in Upland, California and held our dinner reception at Sycamore Inn in Rancho Cucamonga.

We opted for a quiet dinner only reception and kept our guest list to under 60 guests - immediate family and friends only.

Everything went so smoothly and we enjoyed our day.

Our photographer was my brother:

Sewing: Muno Blankie

I'm not sure what all the Yo Gabba Gabba hype is all about but if it makes a kid happy...I'll go along with it!

I made a Muno blankie for a very special 2 year old's birthday and was actually surprised it turned out so decently :)

I used red Soft & Comfy fabric from Joann's and flannel fabric for the face details.

In case you don't know who Muno is, he is a one-eyed monster character from Yo Gabba Gabba. I had never heard of it until a few weeks ago but I guess Yo Gabba Gabba is the new Barney?

Sewing: Cupcake Burp Cloth and Bib

I'm not the best sewer and I don't sew very often but I was able to complete this burp cloth and bib set in an adorable cupcake fabric!

The burp cloth is a Gerber 6-Pack Premium 6-Ply Cloth Diaper - Prefold and I've sewed on one side the adorable cupcake fabric I got from Joann's.

The bib is one side fabric and the other side terry cloth with a Velcro closure.

This makes a great gift set for a baby shower or as a gift to take to the hospital.
I used this one as a baptism gift.

First Large Purchase

Yay! We made our first large purchase!

We went to Living Spaces in Rancho Cucamonga to look at bedroom furniture and ended up purchasing a sectional set for our family room area.

My favorite piece is the chair and a half - perfect for me and my dog, Skipper to share!

One Empty Home

We are slowly getting our new home together!

Drawer liners and grout sealant were some of our first purchases and we're working on sealing all the kitchen counters and lining drawers.

Our home is so empty compared to our neighbors moving in. They are bringing moving trucks full of things and all we have are a few things in our car's trunk each time we go over.

Since we both lived separately with our parents we don't have much to work with!

We purchased 2 bar stools to have a place to sit at the kitchen island and that's all the furniture we have so far!

Our Home Search Is Over!

My better half and I have been searching for the past few months for the perfect home and we think we've finally found it.

Back in November we visited the TriPointe homes in Riverside, California that were being built and they were AMAZING!!! BUT we knew it was out of our budget so we kept our search going.

A couple of weeks ago I looked at the website and noticed a change in the wording of their pricing so I became hopeful they had lowered their price to be within our budget. We were out house hunting on April 2nd and this was our last stop - they had adjusted their pricing!

We knew this had to be our home. Of course the lot we chose is a little over budget but we feel its definitely worth it.

Now comes the hard part of making sure everything is in order so that it actually becomes ours!

We are extremely nervous since this is our first home and our dream home!

Meant to Bee ~ Engagement Party

To celebrate our November 2010 engagement we held a party for our family and friends - hosted by my Dad.

El Torito in Rancho Cucamonga was the perfect spot for our party.
It's centrally located and they have a private area that we were able to use for our party.

Meant to Bee was our party theme!

Our printed items were from Event123 on Etsy.com.
She was great to work with...promptly answered my emails...super fast creation of the invite with matching envelopes and she gladly created matching items.
Meant to Bee Invites from Event123's etsy shop.

Event123 also created name cards and menus for the event.

Space was limited so we weren't able to do a candy bar but instead I placed candy dishes on the tables with different yellow and black candies in them along with black and yellow buttermints from Amazon.com scattered along the tables.

Our personalized black and yellow M&M's were a big hit. Some had a picture of bees on them and the others had our names and Meant to Bee!

The kids were entertained with personalized crayon rolls, a special kids menu and bee themed coloring sheets.

Our cake was created by a lady in
La Verne, California who bakes at home - it was delicious!

The party favors were individual bags of seasoned popcorn -
made by my dad with his own secret recipe!

It turned out to be a wonderful engagement party...
a great start to a new beginning together!

Online Dating Worked For Me!

5 years ago I signed up for match.com and was matched with a guy who lived just a few miles away from me...he was nice but extremely shy...we dated for several weeks discussing our pasts and our dreams for the future but I ended up deciding that I was unsure of what I wanted at 20 years old and we both moved on.

We've kept in touch afterwards, sending a text message here or there, we even tried dating again. Yet once again I called it quits.

After some time we lost touch again and I was still searching for the "love of my life".

2 years ago I signed up for eHarmony.com and guess who I was matched with? The same guy, of course! We tried to date again, even discussing a future together but once again I decided to walk away.

I never stopped thinking about him and on January 1, 2010 I decided I wanted to give us another try, realizing that he was a kind, respectful man who cared for me way more than I could have hoped for. He cautiously started a dating me again, willing to yet once again give me another chance to figure out my feelings.

Of course, it only lasted a few weeks before I told him I just needed more time...most guys who have gave up by now. Yet, he kept in touch with me, being a good friend.

Forward 6 months to now and guess what? We have started dating again but this time I've jumped in with both feet. I've put my fears and worries of losing my independence or possibly settling and decided this is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with :)

Details about "My Other Half"...31, just graduated with his Masters degree in Social Work and has his Bachelors degree in Psychology, kind, giving, compassionate, responsible, dependable, dedicated, sensitive, and the opposite of everything I am!

I'm grateful to My Other Half for giving me so much time and so many chances to figure out what I want for my life.

I'm blessed :)
